What is a 55+ community, and which ones are in Vernon?
A 55+ community is a strata complex whose bylaws limit who can live there by age. In B.C., since November 24, 2022, the only age restriction a strata can have is 55 and older, and the law protects certain residents, such as people who already lived there, live-in caregivers and younger spouses.
In Vernon, complexes marketed as 55+ include Gracelands in Westmount, Harwood Place, Parkdale and Briarwood in Harwood, and Maple Grove Manor and Tamarack I near downtown.
Bylaws can change, so always read the current registered bylaws and the Form B before you remove subjects.
